The food was top notch!!
Came here for lunch, we had a ploughmans, the portions were a lot larger than expected but this was good as the food was top notch!! The place was clean, staff were friendly and the surroundings were beautiful. What more could you want?! Definitely coming back. 5 stars.

Service top class
5 of us are at lunchtime today. Food was excellent, service top class with exceptional friendly staff. Spotless clean - we saw one of the tables being prepared even a toothbrush used for the grooves in the tables . Would definately go again the garden and play area looked perfect for children. excellent! 5 stars.

An absolute gem of a place tucked away in the most lovely setting. Mrs Manning's pies are to die for. Keep your chain restaurants... this is what affordable family dining is about. Amazing.

Great little country pub
Staying at brands hatch & Googled somewhere to eat, great little country pub and the food was very good quality, more expensive than a whetherspoons but plenty on plate and really tasty. Thoroughly enjoyed it. 5 stars.

Happy and very helpful staff
Lunchtime sandwich and drink. Salmon on granary bread with a side salad and crisps. Very substantial portions. Happy and very helpful staff although they were very busy. Reasonable price £19.00 for three + drinks. Comfortable seating. Big garden for sunny days. Happy to return. 5 stars.

Tasty Sunday roast
Very reasonably priced traditional pub with a strong menu. Sunday roast was sizeable and tasty. Will be returning soon.

Best pie I've ever tasted
Beautiful old pub and gardens backing on to the river. Fantastic meal - had Mrs Manning's pie - best pie I've ever tasted, with local fresh veggies. Will definitely return.

Attended a wedding and really could not fault the setting, the organisation, the catering and service. It was a beautiful day and very popular.

Got married in September at the Fighting Cocks pub, had a fantastic day and all the staff were brilliant, highly recommend getting married there, the food was very nice (we had a buffet) which was outstanding.
They have a wedding organisor Martine who is very good with planning our wedding.

Packed in the lovely garden
Visited yesterday and what a lovely afternoon. Outside was packed but managed to get a table out in the lovely garden and ordered the paella which was fantastic. The atmosphere in this pub is very friendly and welcoming and very clean. Would highly recommend a visit to this pub!

Party of 25 celebrated a great birthday
Pre ordered food for such a large group and all came up correct plus the extras we requested. Everyone enjoyed their food.

Never been disappointed
I booked a last minute table for my husband's birthday after our plans changed. The staff were great and managed to surprise him with a candle and a song! The food was delicious and the kids menu was lovely too. The surroundings are lovely and the kids enjoyed the play area. We have been to the Fighting Cocks numerous times and have never been disappointed. Thanks

Perfect
We visited today for the first time and what a lovely place, staff were all great, garden is amazing, perfect for a sunny day. This time we didn't have the children but next time we will as there's bits for them to climb on plus the river at back of garden with a pair of wellies they will probably be paddling. We had the ploughmans lunch with extras and it was presented perfectly.

The food was very good, especially the homemade steak pie. A few mistakes made in the orders (plain chips rather than sweet potato fries and later shandy instead of butter shandy). Nothing serious and so quickly rectified. Service was at a good pace and we didn't feel hurried. I would certainly recommend this place.

Visiting from Somerset
Came here this evening 1/11/2017 for an evening meal with my boyfriend and his brother. Superb setting for an evening meal - lovely service - Sophie was very attentive and polite. Meals were amazing - a lot of food on the plate, you definitely get what you pay for here!!!

Outstanding Christmas Party
I love Christmas, but the worst part is trying to organise a 'please-all' event for 30+ staff. This year we had our works party at the Fighting Cocks and EVERYONE enjoyed it! They all loved the food (which was outstanding), the disco was great and the staff were really friendly and very festive. Great value, and undoubtedly the best Christmas party we have had. Well done, we will definitely be back. 5 Stars

The Old Git's Christmas Party
As a bunch of ageing tennis players we always have a Christmas do and have been to a lot of places over the years. We came to the Fighting Cocks last year and had such a great time that we came back again this year. And we weren't disappointed!
It just gets better, the service is always very friendly, the food was excellent and we were thoroughly looked after all day. The pub has been improved over the years beyond measure and is now a great place to relax with a good selection of ales, a lovely dining room, and is set in a great location by the river. Thanks Chris and Vanessa, we all had a great day! 5 Stars

Christmas Party Night
My colleagues and I had a fantastic evening last night. The menu was varied with plenty of choice. Most of my group chose Turkey and it was beautifully cooked, tasty and came with a good selection of vegetables. I chose Mrs. Manning's pie which was delicious.
The disco was the only thing I personally was not too keen on because it was too club like with not enough other genres mixed in until the last 15 minutes - but then I am probably too old for club stuff! Everyone seemed to be having a good time and the staff were brilliant and couldn't do enough for us. I would thoroughly recommend this pub in. a general way too as the food is always good and has a lovely garden suitable for families especially in the summer. 5 Stars

We had our work Christmas meal at the Fighting Cocks this week and we all really enjoyed it. The food was excellent and the service was very good. Whilst I was organising it there were a few changes along the way and it was never a problem for the staff to change things. We all would definitely recommend the Fighting Cocks for a really good night out. Thank you very much from the crowd from Darent Valley Hospital!! X 5 Stars

To be honest, I am always wary of meals on Christmas party nights as they are usually mass catered and the food is usually average. Well how wrong was I?! The food was AMAZING and the service was great too. The service was quick but that was only to allow time to eat and clear away before the disco started. I would really recommend this restaurant and will be back with my family this time - Thank you! 5 Stars

We had a fantastic Xmas meal at this restaurant, food was amazing and such good value for money. The service was excellent and staff were very helpful and polite. Atmosphere was great and restaurant was spacious. I would definitely return to The Fighting Cocks in Horton Kirby. 5 Stars

Another excellent meal - never been disappointed
Took a Party of 32 Bexara members yesterday for Xmas Lunch and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the experience of superb food with excellent friendly service in lovely surroundings and even the sun was out in early December ! We will definitely go again! 5 Stars

Once again we shared a wonderful Christmas Lunch! Everything was done efficiently from the booking through to paying the bill The food was beautifully presented, especially the meringue 'snowman' and all tasted delicious. We are a group of 'seniors' so opted for the 'senior' meals which were very generous and excellent value. I chose the vegetarian 'wellington' for a change - very tasty. A lovely start to the festive season! 5 Stars
